The house that Lilian built — one braid at a time.

House of Lankan began with a simple idea: braiding is a form of care. It's the quiet hour a woman gives to herself, the ancestral rhythm passed from mother to daughter, the finished style that carries her for weeks.
Founded by Lilian Amaka Martins in Colorado, our studio brings the traditions of West African braiding to a space that feels intentional and unhurried. Lilian trained under her aunts as a young girl in Nigeria, and has spent the last decade refining her hand — mastering everything from featherweight knotless braids to intricate cornrow architecture.
We take one client at a time. That's it. No double-booking, no rush. You'll be greeted with warmth, offered water, and settled into a chair where the only agenda is your hair.
Scalp-first approach
Braids should never hurt. We tension lightly and cleanly for styles that last without pulling.
Premium hair only
We use pre-stretched, low-shed fibers that look natural and stay soft for the full life of the style.
One-on-one appointments
Undivided attention means better work — and a genuinely restful few hours in the chair.
Aftercare guidance
You'll leave with a written care routine so your style stays fresh from week one to week ten.
